In Flames just came out with their new album entitled A Sense Of Purpose. This 2008 release is their ninth full album after their previous album Coming Clarity. Based on my listening, this album is good to be listened to especially for those fans who miss the sounds from Reroute To Remain album. There are some similarities of patterns within these two albums. Many of the songs are mellow, which I consider as semi-heavy compared to those long time albums like Whoracle and Colony which known by metalheads as two of their heaviest melodic death metal studio albums. Starting from the album Retroute To Remain as well as Clayman, In Flames started with the combination of little sound of death metal and pop sounds. Similar to this new album, the vocalist Anders Friden, contributed more of his clean and melancholic voice to many songs like Alias, The Chosen Pessimist and etc. Another thing I realize is his growling voice in this album is not too harsh. Perhaps In Flames in on their way to generalize their music to be more easy-listening. - By icg_vortex
